Description of Disability:

The heel was re constructed with a micro surgical muscle transfer and skin grafting. He was able to walk moderate distances without any discomfort.

Micro surgery involved removal of one less significant thigh muscle along with its blood vessels; the muscle was inset into the heel pad position and the blood vessels were joined to the blood vessels at the ankle under magnification of an operating microscope. This muscle was covered with a skin graft taken from the thigh.

Treatment:

Post operative care: 

The patient is given low molecular weight dextran to aid in microcirculation and focused heat is provided by a high watt (100) electric bulb along with other routine measures for a week. The patient is discharged at 10 days.
