Description of disability:

"Cupped ears” are in the shape of a cup due to a constriction of the ear cartilage. The cupped ear lacks antithetical folding (including absence of inferior and superior cure) .The degree of cupping may vary from mild to severe.

Treatment:

Mild deformities can be corrected by reshaping the ear cartilage to produce the anti helical fold. Severe constriction however requires placement of carved cartilage taken from the ribs.

Post operative care:

Routine postoperative care of head-end elevation and review for suture removal after a week. The swelling usually subsides within 2 months.
